Unlike Small Claims Court, the HRTO looks at where I am located to satisfy jurisdiction. It doesn't matter where he is located. lozza v. tux machines: > Britney Lozza v. Tux Machines was approved by the Tribunal on January 27, 2024. Unlike Small Claims Court, it matters more where I am instead of where she is located. Tux Machines is hosted in the United Kingdom, but she does make it available to readers in Ontario, Canada. further details are available here: => https://legalbeaver.ca these lawsuits are taking place in ontario, due to transphobic harassment from the owners and content of the respective websites. the claimant (not a "plaintiff" in this context, but think of "plaintiff" if it helps) is a friend. i have personally seen the actions and harassment taking place. as someone who has been on the receiving end of such abuse from one of the same people, the only thing that surprises me about this- and then only a little- is the degree of abuse and the degree of dishonesty. this is the sort of thing these websites have become about. i am well aware of the efforts of these websites to turn the whole story around on ms. lozza, as they have done to others. occasionally, this is directed at someone who is an industry shill. personally, i dont think even the worst shills should be treated dishonestly, because doing so amounts to dishonesty towards your own readers. but the abuse towards ms. lozza is beyond the pale. this includes doxxing and deadnaming people who used to contribute amicably to the websites, and the owner of one of the websites still claims to keeps sources safe and anonymous, even while he doxxes and smears some of them! i think more than anything, these lawsuits will demonstrate and help to expose these websites for what they really are. they are tabloids, yes. but more than that, they are tabloids that carry out personal vendettas, and the information they convey is neither accurate, nor held to ANY standard of accountability. when challenged, when disproven- information is not corrected. instead, critics are treated with the sort of abuse that led to these websites losing hosting in the state of washington- for violating local laws. despite what these websites say about it, those actions were not due to "social engineering" or "perjury" from ms. lozza. the removal of those websites (they are now hosted in another jurisdiction) was required on the part of the host, and by simply doing her job said host avoided the possibility of actions taken against her and the hosting company. it is routine for the site owners previously mentioned to deflect even lawsuits as "fake", regardless of what authority or jurisdiction they are from. thats nonsense, but its nonsense from a regular source of nonsense and dishonesty. without any delusions about convincing sceptics who are truly entrenched in their assumptions, these legal actions are a not nitpick or a technicality. they respond to ongoing campaigns of lies, revenge and abuse. efforts to reverse the narrative on the victim are extensive, but shallow. the lawsuits are real, and the abuse they refer to is real. the response from techrights and tux machines from the beginning of this fiasco has been an effort to mislead and manipulate their own audience. on the one hand, i do not expect the audience to realise this, or care. but every time these websites lose a cult member, the response is to either smear them, deny knowledge of details, or feign total surprise at the turn of events. make no mistake, those are cult tactics- vengeance against their own readers and against volunteers whose efforts were exploited with false pretenses in the first place. people becoming disillusioned with techrights is commonplace, and if the owners were honest about what theyve done, it would hasten the demise and reduce the traffic of the websites. this is not to say there arent possible trolls who dont care what the facts are even if they already know, and simply flock to these sites for the schadenfreude. even so, techrights has lost several veteran members of its audience due to lies and abuse- which i have noted for years now, not months. it would not be surprising if that trend were to continue. license: 0-clause bsd ``` # 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 # # Permission to use, copy, modify, and/or distribute this software for any # purpose with or without fee is hereby granted. # # THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND THE AUTHOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES # WITH REGARD TO THIS SOFTWARE INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF # MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
